Some years ago we discovered that a fair number of our working duck decoys ended up on the mantle rather than in the marsh. While it was not our intention to create decorative (collector) style duck decoys, we can understand the urge to showcase our birds.
The great shape, interesting head position, glass eyes, and nice paint job are all conducive to the urge to display our duck decoys rather then rigging them and storing them away in a bag until fall.
Dont get me wrong. I fully endorse the hobby of collecting and displaying duck decoys, since our home has a squadron of retired duck decoys on display. My suggestion is do both! Use Autumn Wings duck decoys for hunting and pull one out of rotation to display and enjoy. These display decoys are set aside from our standard production for our carvers to critique, touch up and finally sign. Our signature adds a nice collectable aspect and the display base keeps them riding straight and looking good! The oval wood base is 14 long X 9 wide with a slot in the center to accommodate the keel of our hunting decoys.
Conservation Fundraising Offer
Another aspect of our support of conservation organizations is the special cost we offer to validated groups who wish to use these collector decoys as auction items and appreciation gifts for officers and committee members. Due to this special low cost offer auction formats regularly more than double the group investment. We can also provide a brass nameplate to commemorate the occasion. To request this special offer for your group send the particulars to info at autumnwings dot com or call us at (612) 735-4134.
